Your data is yours. We only collect what we need to make TradesPro work — and we never sell it. Full stop.

TL;DR

What we collect: Your name, email, phone, business info, and website content. Also basic technical data like browser type and pages visited.

What we do with it: Run your website, process payments, send essential updates, and improve the product. Marketing emails only if you opt in.

What we don't do: We never sell your data. We don't share it for third-party marketing. We don't use your content to train AI models.

Your rights: Access it. Correct it. Delete it. Take it with you. Email privacy@tradespro.com.au anytime.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you sign up for TradesPro or contact us, we collect:

  • Your name, email address, and phone number
  • Your business name, ABN or ACN, and trade or service category
  • Billing information (processed securely through Stripe — we never see or store full credit card numbers)
  • Website content you upload — pages, images, copy, blog posts, and any other material you add to your TradesPro site
  • Correspondence when you contact our support team

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website or use the platform, we automatically collect:

  • Browser type and version, device type, and operating system
  • IP address and general location (city/suburb level)
  • Pages visited, referral source, and time and date of each visit
  • Cookie and tracking technology data (see the Cookies section below)

Information from third parties. We receive limited data from our payment processor, Stripe, including payment confirmation (amount, date, and status). We don't receive full card numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for these purposes:

  • To provide and maintain TradesPro. This includes hosting your website, processing your content, and keeping the platform running.
  • To process payments and send invoices. We use Stripe to handle all payment processing securely.
  • To send essential service communications. Welcome emails, billing receipts, feature change notifications, and account-related messages.
  • To improve the product. We analyse aggregated usage data to understand how people use TradesPro and make it better. This never involves looking at your individual customer data.
  • To send marketing communications. Only if you've explicitly opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. No exceptions.
  • To comply with legal obligations. Australian tax law requires us to retain certain records. We also respond to lawful requests from regulators.

3. Data Sharing

Here's what we don't do with your data:

We do not sell your personal data to anyone — ever. We do not share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not use your website content, customer data, or business information to train AI models.

When we do share data (with service providers only):

  • Stripe — payment processing. We share billing amount and customer email so they can process transactions.
  • AWS (Sydney region) — cloud hosting. Your website content and account data are stored on AU-based servers.
  • Google Analytics — anonymised usage analytics. No personally identifiable information is sent.
  • SendGrid / Postmark — email delivery for service and marketing emails.
  • Intercom / Crisp — customer communication and support ticketing.

Every third-party processor we use has GDPR-compatible data processing agreements in place. They are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing the service we've engaged them for.

International transfers. Your data is primarily stored in Australia (AWS ap-southeast-2). Analytics data may transit through US servers (Google Analytics) under Privacy Shield or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

4. Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to make the site work, understand how it's used, and (with your consent) show relevant advertising.

Essential cookies — these are required for the site to function: session management, authentication, and security. No consent needed.

Analytics cookies — we use Google Analytics 4 and PostHog to understand how visitors use the site. IP addresses are anonymised. This data helps us improve the product.

Marketing / retargeting cookies — these help us show relevant TradesPro ads to people who've visited our site. These are only placed with your opt-in consent.

How to control cookies. When you first visit TradesPro, you'll see a cookie consent banner where you can accept all, reject non-essential, or customise your preferences. You can change your preferences anytime via the Cookie Settings link in the website footer.

You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may affect how the site functions.

5. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Here's what we do to protect it:

  • Encryption in transit. All data sent to and from TradesPro is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher.
  • Encryption at rest. Your data is stored encrypted using AES-256 on AWS servers in the Sydney (ap-southeast-2) region.
  • Access controls. Only authorised TradesPro personnel have access to systems containing personal data. Access is granted on a need-to-know basis and revoked when no longer required.
  • Security audits. We conduct regular security reviews and penetration testing.
  • Employee monitoring. All employee access to data is logged and reviewed periodically to detect unauthorised activity.

Data retention. We keep your data only as long as needed:

  • Account data — retained while your account is active, plus 90 days after cancellation (grace period for reactivation)
  • Analytics data — retained 26 months (standard Google Analytics retention period)
  • Billing records — retained 7 years (Australian tax law requirement)
  • Website content — deleted 90 days after account cancellation (export available on request before cancellation)
  • Marketing preferences — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion

6. Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and (where applicable) the GDPR, you have the following rights over your data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention requirements
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format to transfer to another provider
  • Withdraw consent — opt out of marketing communications at any time
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we've handled your data improperly

To exercise any of these rights, email our Privacy Officer at privacy@tradespro.com.au. We respond to all requests within 30 days.

If you're unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email to the address on your account.

Changes take effect on the date specified in the updated policy. If you continue using TradesPro after changes take effect, that constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

We'll never make changes that reduce your rights without giving you clear notice and, where required, obtaining your consent.
